Summary of Poem Everyone Sang
Everyone Sang Poem Summary: It is an anti-war poem by the famous British Trench poet, Seigfried Sassoon. He thinks that wars and battles are a criminal waste of money, men, and materials.
Hence, they should be stopped at any cost. In the poem, he seems to be celebrating the end of the first world war in November 1918 with the defeat of Germany under Adolf Hitler.
The poet says that the soldiers are filled with joy in the wake of the end of this war. The whole atmosphere is surcharged with 'beauty and 'delight'.
The 'horror' and 'ugliness' of wartime have come to an end. Freedom and fearlessness have occupied the heart and minds of everyone.
So everyone is celebrating the end of this war. The poet feels as if the caged bird has been set free to fly wildly in the sky. The song may be 'wordless' but it is being felt by every soldier perhaps this kind of joy will never never be felt again.
